what if for one day
we ran head first into our greatest fears
swallowed them like savages
vomiting confession after confession
these moments hit
unexpectedly
and I’m afraid it destroys me a little more
each time
break these bones
smiling is the easiest
maybe that’s why mother got me braces
what if for one day
we ran for no destination
but truth
vomiting, coughing on honesty that make our throats
dry and lumpy
like bumps and ditches in the road
vomit vomit my heart will fall
out of my mouth
into this world
where maybe
these fears are what keep us alive
